Socialist TD Paul Murphy has been sent forward for trial following last year’s water protests in Jobstown.
He’s being charged with falsely imprisoning Tanaiste Joan Burton in her car during the demonstration.
15 others have also been charged and will appear before the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court in January.
Paul Murphy told 98FM News "the case has now gone to the Circuit Court, so I think the seriousness of the charges is now clear to people."
"The judge mentioned on a number of occasions that the sentence involved in a maximum of life in prison."
