The Taoiseach has told all government departments to prepare detailed plans on how to tackle the recent flooding and bad weather.

Enda Kenny says he wants a co-ordinated response to the adverse weather and to find out what needs to be done to help flood victims.

He has also asked for a detailed brief on a new long term forecasting system that could allow for better preparation for future storms.

Flooding in many parts is likely to be compounded today, with a 24-hour rainfall warning in place for parts of Leinster and Munster.

Up to 35 millimeters of rain is expected in places according to Deirdre Lowe from Met Éireann.
