Taoiseach Enda Kenny visited one of the country’s best known gay bars last night.
He stopped by the Fine Gael LGBT Christmas party.
TD Jerry Buttimer and Children's Minister James Reilly also attended the function at Panti Bar owned by Rory O’Neill, aka, Panti Bliss.
Jerry Buttimer, chairman of Fine Gael LGBT, said the event “wasn’t a party per se” and the Taoiseach had dropped in as “his way of acknowledging the work of the group”.
Rory O'Neill said on Facebook that Enda Kenny's visit was significant as only a few years ago a Taoiseach wouldn't have dared.
He added that it shows how times have changed.
