Gardai believe the man found in the Grand Canal may have been killed elsewhere by a violent Dublin gang.

The victim's body was found in a suitcase by teenagers out walking at Ardclough Co. Kildare on Saturday afternoon.

Officers are continuing searches for other body parts and believe the man in his 20s was murdered recently.

A Garda sub-aqua team has been combing the site along the canal, along with the Garda technical bureau.

The identity of the man has yet to be revealed and a post mortem has also been carried out by the Deputy State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtis to find out how he died.

Superintendent Gerry Wall is appealing for anyone who may have information to come forward..
