It's D-day tomorrow for 118,784 Junior and Leaving Cert students.

55,963 will sit their Leaving Certificate while 59,919 students will start their first ever State exams with the Junior Certificate.

Exam centres will open early as pupils get ready to turn over the first papers at 9.30.

John Buckley from Spunout dot ie has these tips for people sitting the exams.

"English is always the first one up. So what you need for English, you need to have a good few biros, you need to be rested. You need to have a good clear mind and lots of energy as they are some of the longest exam papers you'll have in the Junior and Leaving Cert".

Education Minister Jan O'Sullivan has this advice for students preparing for tomorrow.

"Get rest, not to be studying too late, make sure they get a good nights sleep. Use whatever techniques they have for falling asleep and putting study out of their heads for the night. And then get up and keep as calm as they possibly can".

Junior Cert students will sit English Paper 1 and 2 while Leaving Cert has English Paper 1 in the morning and Home Economics Social and Scientific in the afternoon.
