Storm Eva Causes Power Outages

The ESB says power should be restored to all homes in Dublin by this evening.

400 homes in Milltown are the latest to be hit by Storm Eva.

Elsewhere the electricity is back on in 400 properties on Leeson Street.

High winds are still being felt in many parts of the city - but Met Eireann says the worst of the storm has passed.

Forecaster John Eagletown says it's quite blustery but the winds are at a low level.

The winds should pass later and it will be calmer tonight.

Meanwhile Gerard O'Fylnn from the Irish Coast Guard says people need to be very careful in exposed areas.

He says the message 'stay back, stay high, stay drive'. He also says people shouldn't do anything they haven't checked as being safe.

Elsewhere people are being encouraged to be careful driving this Christmas Eve, with 2015 set to be the safest on our roads since records began.

Gardai will have over 7,000 checkpoints around the country to deter drink drivers.

They're warning thousands of people across the country to be careful when they're heading home for Christmas.
