Police in the north say a car used in the attempted murder of police officers in Belfast was stolen from Meath.

A gunman shot at two police officers on Thursday, striking their vehicle eight times but both officers escaped injury.

The black BMW 3 series used by the gunman had false reg plates and was stolen from Ashbourne in September.

The car has been located and Gardai and the PSNI are asking anyone with information to contact them.
