A man charged with the murder of a young mother at a hotel in Tallaght is due back in court today.

Eric Locke of St John's Park East, Clondalkin is accused of killing Sonia Blount just over one week ago.

Nine days ago, Sonia Blount was found dead in room number 346 at the Plaza hotel in Tallaght.

A cleaner found her body during her daily rounds at around 3.30 in the afternoon.

Gardai initially treated her death as "suspicious" but the investigation was quickly upgraded to a murder inquiry following a post mortem.

On the night Sonia's body was found, Eric Locke presented himself to Store Street Garda Station.

The 31-year-old was arrested and brought to Tallaght District Court two days later charged with her murder.

He is due to appear before Cloverhill DC today where his lawyers may be in a position to indicate whether their client is going to apply for bail.
