Gardai in Howth are investigating after skeletal remains were found on the north side.
A skull was found by a man out walking on the Hole in the Wall, Burrow beach in Sutton at around 1pm yesterday.
A small bone was then discovered by Gardai and the coast guard in a follow up search.
Officers say the skull appears to have been in the water for some time.
The body parts have been taken to the City Morgue for a forensic examination.
