Detectives investigating the discovery of a skull on the northside are searching the area for more body parts.

The remains were discovered by workmen earlier this week.

This skull was found in a ditch in a field near Malahide on Wednesday afternoon.

Early tests have revealed it belonged to a man and could have been there for up to ten years.

Special digging equipment is now being brought in by officers as they widen their search for further possible remains.

DNA testing is being carried out on the skull by the State Forensic Anthropologist.

However it's understood it could take weeks for a formal identification.

Gardai are also understood to be trawling missing person case files in the hope of finding some leads.
