Sinn Féin Overtakes Fine Gael As Ireland's Most Popular Party - Poll

Sinn Féin has overtaken Fine Gael to become the most popular political party in the country.

It has gained two percentage points to hit 32%, according to a new opinion poll.

Fine Gael have lost four points, falling to 27% support, according to the Sunday Times/Behaviour and Attitudes survey.

Fianna Fáil sits in third place, up three to 22%.

The Labour Party is up one point to 5%, while the Greens are down two to 3%.

There was no change in popularity for Solidarity-PBP which has 2% support.

Both the Social Democrats and Aontú are down one to 1% and 0% respectively.

Independents and others have seen a rise of two points to 7%.

The findings compare with the last Behaviour and Attitudes survey carried out between October 1st and 13th.

Today's poll was conducted face-to-face with 916 eligible Irish voters from December 3rd to 15th.

It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.3%.
