Water levels on the River Shannon are continuing to rise, with heavy rain battering much of the country.
In Westmeath, forty County Council workers and volunteers have been manning pumps.
Director of Services Barry Kehoe says the Shannon has risen by 8cm in Athlone over the last few days:
