French police say 12 people have been killed including two police officers, and 4 critically injured after heavily armed gunmen stormed the offices of a satirical magazine in Paris.
The publication, Charlie Hebdo, has previously been targeted for its depictions of the prophet Muhammad.
Shortly before the incident the magazine posted a tweet mockingly wishing the head of Islamic State a Happy New Year.
A manhunt is underway for 2 or 3 men.
France has raised its terror alert to its maximum level.
