A woman is recovering following a serious assault in Blanchardstown at the weekend.
The attack happened at around 2:30am on Sunday morning when the woman in her late 30s was out walking her dog at Blakestown Way.
The victim who needed a crutch to walk, was viciously assaulted by a man in his 20s.
A passing taxi driver went to help the woman and the attacker fled the scene.
Gardai believe the driver stopped a more serious asault from taking place.
Gardai are appealing for witnesses and want to speak to the taxi driver in particular.
The attacker has been described as 6 foot with a Dublin accent and a chipped left front tooth.
