The Garda subaqua unit is searching the river Barrow in Carlow this morning for a 19 year old man.

It's understood he fell into the river yesterday evening.

A search operation was launched - but it had to be stood down yesterday evening due to bad weather.

The Gardai, coastguard, members of the Civil Defence, and dozens of volunteers are also taking part in the search at Millford Bridge, about three kilometres outside Carlow Town.

Separately searches are still continuing in Carlow town for a woman in her late 40's believed to have fallen into the river in the town on Friday night.
