Gardai investigating the disappearance of two Dublin men have begun searching a fresh site in Co. Cavan.

Nobody has seen or heard from Eoin O'Connor and Anthony Keegan - who are both from Coolock - since they left Dublin last week.

It's been exactly one week since Anthony Keegan and Eoin O'Connor travelled to Cavan.

The two friends have been missing ever since.

The car they travelled in was found at Lough Owel near Mullingar last Friday and an extensive search of the area proved fruitless.

Investigating officers are becoming increasingly concerned for the men's safety.

They say they're looking into a number of possible explanations for their disappearance including the involvement of a well-known criminal gang.

Today, the search team moved to an area near Mount Nugent in Co. Cavan and the search is expected to continue there for the rest of the day.

In the meantime, anytime with information is asked to contact Gardai.
