Salesforce has announced plans to create more than a thousand new jobs in Dublin.

The US software company is building new offices in the docklands, which will give it room to double its Irish team.

The company is planning to take on another 1500 workers over the next five years.

The new base, in the docklands, will also be available for community groups to use free of charge.

Dublin Chamber of Commerce has welcomed the news, however it has concerns about housing.

The business group fears a lack of housing may affect Dublin's ability to attract more big companies.

Salesforce has admitted it has had to look at where its bigger staff will live.

Executive Vice Chairman for Real Estate with Salesforce, Elizabeth Pinkham, said it was something they considered.

Moving from the suburbs into town, she said they "will look at what that impact means for our employees".

Earlier this week, Microsoft announced it is going to spend $500m on developing housing in the U.S. State of Seattle.

The company, which also has a large base in Dublin, said it wants to help develop more places for its workforce to live.

House prices in Seattle have risen 96% in eight years, while they've risen by more than that in Dublin.
