Rotunda Cancels Appointments Following HSE Cyber Attack

The system for referring people to get a Covid-19 test is down because of this morning's HSE cyber attack.

The Rotunda Hospital has cancelled most appointments - but the ambulance service and Covid vaccinations are unaffected.

The Rotunda is a lot quieter than usual today, as nearly all outpatient appointments have been cancelled except for heavily pregnant women.

Anyone with an appointment across the country is being urged to turn up - but some hospital groups are warning patients of long delays.

The HSE has shut down its entire IT system in response to the ransomware attack - CEO Paul Reid says they're assessing the impact.

GPs will be asking people to attend a walk-in centre instead.

The National Ambulance Service is operating as normal - and the Covid vaccination programme is unaffected too.
