The RNLI is aiming to halve accidental coastal drownings by 2024.

The institute is launching a new drowning prevention campaign today.

More people die in coastal drownings each year than the number of pedestrians and cyclists killed on Irish roads.

Two thirds of the victims are men aged between 16 and 39.
