The jurors in the trial of two Dublin siblings accused of murder have been told to treat each case separately during their deliberations.

Sabrina and Kenneth Cummins, who are both from Ringsend Park in Dublin 4, deny murdering Thomas Horan at a senior citizens' complex in January 2014.

Two conflicting versions of what happened to Thomas Horan emerged during the Cummins’ five week trial.

The 63-year-old was well-known to Sabrina Cummins, and during her evidence, she initially claimed she went to his home in Ringsend in Dublin after a row with her boyfriend, but later admitted going there for money.

She claims her brother, co-accused Kenneth Cummins, tried to suffocate him with a plastic bag before strangling him with a belt.

However, Kenneth has pointed the finger of blame at his sister, telling Gardai she stabbed and poisoned him before banging his head off a shelf.

The jurors have been told to treat each case separately, and to try and establish whether lies were told or if there was any corroboration.

They’ll soon begin their deliberations.
