The Children's Minister says a report into Hassan Khan's death won't be ready for some time.

It comes as the child's mother, who is accused of murdering her toddler son at their home in Ballybrack, is due back in court today.

Last month Hazel Waters of Ridge Hall Shanganagh Road was admitted to the Central Mental Hospital after being charged in court with killing her two year old son.

Hassan Khan's body was found on the 16th of October.

He had been at the centre of a national garda child resuce alert in August.

The Child and Family Agency Tusla is now looking into what contact Hassan had with gardai and social services before his death.

But Children's Minister James Reilly says it won't be ready for some time.

Hazel Waters has not appeared in court in person since she was originally charged two days after Hassan's death.

She has not entered a plea and the book of evidence must be served before she can be sent forward for trial.
