A new unpublished report is calling for the fire brigade to run all Dublin ambulances.

At the minute emergency services in Dublin are operated by the Fire Brigade while the HSE is responsible for the rest of the country with some overlap between the two on the outskirts of the county.

But the City Council and health service want full responsibility transferred to the HSE's National Ambulance Service.

This report however says Dublin Fire Brigade should retain full control of emergency calls here in the city and that transferring responsibility to the National Service would have an adverse effect on patients.

It also says that funding for Dublin's ambulance service should be removed from the HSE and taken over by the Department of the Environment.
