Thousands of refugees expected to be taken in by Ireland will NOT be housed in Direct Provisison.

There were concerns about Government plans to place refugees in places like disused army barracks, which was described as 'worrying' by retired Supreme Court Judge and patron of the Irish Refugee Council, Catherine McGuinness.

Tánaiste Joan Burton says there's a rough figure of 5,000 refugees for Ireland, but that they won't end up in Direct Provision:
