The Dublin Rape Crisis Centre is reassuring victims of sexual abuse that there is support available.
The centre is encouraging any victims of sexual assault to contact their services or the Gardai.
The DRCC says it received almost 2 thousand calls to its helpline last December and January.
The centre also reported a 33 percent increase in the same period in the numbers being accompanied to the Sexual Assault Treatment Unit in the Rotunda Hospital.
