The Minister for Transport says he's acutely aware of the disruption a strike will cause Irish Rail passengers this Sunday and Monday.
A 48-hour work stoppage over pay cuts will affect thousands of GAA fans heading to Croke Park for the All Ireland football semi-final and thousands of commuters on Monday.
Paschal Donohoe says he hugely regrets the decision by the National Bus and Rail Union and SIPTU to engage in industrial action, when Irish Rail is carrying accumulated losses of nearly 150 million euro.
