People in Lucan are being asked for their say on the design of a new swimming pool at Griffeen Valley Park.

Lucan is the same size has Wateford but has no public pool.

The long awaited facility is due to open in 2019 and will also feature a gym, changing facilities and a cafeteria.

The development will consist of a new single storey building, with landscaped surroundings, 108 car parking bays  and 88 bike spaces.

The €13m project has entered the public consultation phase, so people are being encouraged to take a look at the plans and have an input into how it look and function.

Local councillor William Lavelle says it's a top design.

"The architects and South Dublin County Council have learned from building pools in Clondalkin and Tallaght in the last few years. It will be state of the art. It will very big in terms of accessibility and it will be energy efficient and sustainable."
