President Michael D. Higgins is set to receive an award at the Irish Film and Television Awards next weekend.
The President is being given an Honorary Award in recognition of his Contribution to the Irish Film & Television Industry.
The award is in recognition of his work as Minister for Arts in the mid 90's - he introduced successful tax incentives for movie production, as well as re-establishing the Irish Film Board and setting up TG4.
