Dublin City Council is seriously looking at building prefabs on derelict sites to house homeless families.
Its in a bid to address the growing crisis.
Right now 156 families with 341 children live in Dublin hotels and the council expects to spend more than 4.5 million euro on emergency accommodation this year.
According to the Irish Times, the crisis has prompted the council to look at prefabs as a temporary solution.
The units would be thermo insulated with windows and separate living, sleeping and cooking areas.
However Green Party Leader Eamon Ryan says it's a "short term solution" and the Government has "done nothing" to tackle the problem:
