Prefabs that could be used for the homeless are set to be tested.

A site in East Wall has been earmarked for the project.

Dublin City Council is set to spend around 6.4 million euro on emergency accommodation for the homeless this year.

Prefabricated housing is one option that is being looked at to ease the crisis.

It's hoped 400 units could be built on vacant sites around the city.

A site on East Wall Road is being prepared to evaluate a range of prefabs that could be used to take people off the streets.

They would be fully fitted homes including one and two bed units.
