Post-mortem examinations have been completed on three brothers who were found dead after a suspected double murder-suicide in Co Cork earlier this week.

Gardaí have renewed their appeal for information about the incident.

60-year-old Paddy and 66-year-old Willie Hennessy were found dead at a farm near Mitchelstown late on Thursday evening.

Their brother, 59-year-old Johnny, was subsequently found dead in a river nearby a short time later.

The local community was said to be "visibly shocked" about the deaths of the men who were described as "salt of the earth people".

While the post-mortems on the bodies of the three brothers have been completed, Gardaí are not releasing the details of the exams for operational reasons.

Some scenes in the area remain sealed off for examination, and investigators have renewed their appeal for any information relating to the deaths.

They are particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw the Red Toyota Corolla which was the subject of a Garda alert on Friday.

It is believed that one of the brothers was driving the vehicle between midnight Thursday and the following morning.

Anyone who has any information about the van with the registration 03-WW-1556 is asked to contact investigating Gardaí at Mitchelstown Garda Station on 025 84833, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
