Gardaí investigating the murder of Tina Satchwell have arrested a man in his 50s following the discovery of human remains at a house in Youghal.

A second site outside the town remains sealed off, as Gardaí seek to determine if the remains discovered at the house are those of the woman who has been missing for over six and a half years.

DNA samples have been taken from skeletal remains and GardaÍ are in the process of identifying who the bones belong to.

Assistant State Pathologist Dr Margaret Bolster visited the scene this morning.

It’s not yet known where exactly the remains were discovered on the property.

A man in his 50s was arrested in the town this morning in connection with the investigation and is being held at a Garda Station in the county.

Meanwhile Gardaí have also searched a second site in the Park area of Youghal, around 8km from the town.

An industrial unit close to a former Co-Op yard remains sealed off this afternoon.
