Tests have confirmed that an Irish man who was suspected of having Ebola, did NOT have the infection.

Forty three year old Dessie Quinn from County Donegal was found dead yesterday

The engineer for KN Network Services in Clondalkin had travelled home from Sierra Leone on the 31st of July for a planned holiday.

The HSE had launched an investigation and tests for Ebola were carried out on his body in case he'd contracted the virus gripping the West African country.

It's emerged the dad of one's family only found this out on the Six One news yesterday evening.

They've since been told that Dessie did not have Ebola when he died.

The Clondalkin company he worked for has offered its condolences to his family and friends.

HSE Statement:

The HSE has confirmed that laboratory test samples for an individual, who had recently returned from Africa, has proved negative for Ebola Virus.

Infection control procedures, which had been put in place as a precautionary measure, will now be stepped down.

The HSE expressed its condolences to the individual’s family and friends for their loss.
