Egyptian authorities have turned down several requests from politicians here to meet Ibrahim Halawa in jail and to observe his trial.
A member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs said it had made a number of requests over the past 6 weeks seeking to send a rep to visit the Firhouse teen.
Senator Mark Daly also alleges that a further request he made personally to the Egyptian Embassy to attend the trial was ignored.
Ibrahim's case been repeatedly put back, and the 19 year old is now almost two full years in jail.
He is due in court again on the 2nd of August.
