Petrol bombs and bricks were thrown at police officers responding to a bomb alert in Armagh last night.
The original device wasn't viable, but a second device exploded during the clearance operation at Lurgan.
It is now believed the initial call was designed to lure police into the Victoria Street area to be targeted by the second device.
A senior officer described the incident as a 'clear murder attempt'. An investigation is underway.
