Permanent Car Ban For Dollymount Strand

A permanent ban on cars at Dollymount Strand is to be put in place.

Last June, Dublin City Council erected barriers at the Wooden Bridge and Causeway Road entrances to stop motorists from driving on to the sand.

Now according to the Irish Times, the council is making the move permanent after strong advice from gardai over public safety.

For years locals received their first driving lessons on Dollymount Strand.

Local Fine Gael Councillor Naoise O'Muiri says a compromise can be reached:
