Rugby hero Paul O'Connell is to be awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Limerick today.

The former Ireland captain will be made a Doctor of Science in recognition of his contribution to sport.

O'Connell made a try-scoring debut for Ireland against Wales in 2002 and since then he's earned 108 caps playing for his country.
