Passenger numbers on Irish trains have increase in the last 6 months.
Iarnrod Eireann has recorded 2.7 per cent growth in passenger journeys compared to this time last year.
Intercity services have seen the largest increase at 5 per cent, while the DART has had a more modest growth of just under 1 per cent.
The Dublin to Cork commuter service recorded a 3.6 per cent rise, carrying 6.4 million passengers since January.
Irish Rail's Barry Kenny says there are a number of factors which have contributed to the overall growth.
