The partner of a man shot dead in Tallaght almost six years ago has been describing the day of the murder.
Seamus or Shay O’Byrne was shot dead in the driveway of his house in Tymon North Park in March 2009 in front of his partner Sharon Rattigan and baby son.
The 27-year-old's partner Sharon Rattigan told the court Mr O’Byrne was shot five times by a man in dark clothes.
She said she ran at the gunman and was shot in the leg and she tried to wrestle the gun off him.
A neighbour described to the court how she arrived home on the evening of the murder to hear Sharon Rattigan screaming.
The neighbour then knelt beside Shay O’Byrne and said he was very cold. She said she didn’t realised how badly he had been shot until she saw the state of her clothes.
31 year old Gary Flynn from Rossfield Drive in Tallaght has denied the murder.
