The parents of the victims and survivors of the Berkelely balcony collapse have filed lawsuits in the States.
The cases are being taken against various property and construction related firms.
City of Berkeley inspectors said the balcony fell because the supports had suffered severe dry rot due to water damage.
Six students died and 7 were injured when the tragedy happened in June.
The legal actions in California have now being taken against 35 named defendants including the apartment block owner, builder and manager.
One of the legal complaints is that corners were cut and signs of dry rot on the balcony were ignored years beforehand.
A criminal investigation into the collapse is ongoing.
