A Dublin City Councillor says parents of pupils at a primary school have raised concerns with him about plans for a sex shop to open nearby.

It's understood the adult store will be based at the corner of Richmond Road and Drumcondra Road - just 50 meters from St. Patrick's National School.

Parents of students at the school have contacted local Councillor Noel Rock, who has admitted he is worried that "this may not be the most appropriate site for this shop".

The Councillor is calling for a change in law, and is planning to ask the Environment Minister to create a "special zoning ordinance, which would regulate where certain type of outlets - sex shops, or indeed fast food outlets, may be established in relation to schools."

Councillor Rock admits the sex shop may boost local business, but cautions that needs to be done in a responsible way.
