Panda To Charge For Green Bin

Waste company Panda is to start charging to collect the green recycling bin.

It's blaming this move to start charging for its green bins on China.

The country, which used to take 95% of Ireland's plastic, recently banned the importing of waste from European countries.

From April, Panda customers will pay 80 cents per lift of their green bin and almost 5 cents per kilo.

That's €21 extra a year, however according to The Irish Times one householder has worked out it could be €100, based on two lifts a month and a €25 lift charge.

125,000 Dublin customers are expected to be affected by the price rise before the regime is rolled out elsewhere.
