Two thousand construction jobs and 300 positions in services will be created during the building of the new National Children’s Hospital.
A new independent report says that many people who live around the St. James area will be hired to ensure that local communities benefit.
Three thousand 700 staff will be employed when the facility opens in 2020, some from the three children's hospitals with the rest made up of new employees.
The construction contracts will include social clauses to make sure local people get jobs while groups from St. Michael’s estate and the Inchicore Regeneration Board say people have already started upskilling.
Planning permission for the €650M hospital was submitted in August.
The oral planning hearings begin on November 30th with a decision due from An Bord Pleanala in February of next year.
