New Years Celebrations in the city were marred by violent and drunken behaviour.

A massive number of assaults, overdoses and falls marked the beginning of 2015 in Dublin.

According to the Fire Brigade, there were 34 assaults, 23 drug overdoses and 38 falls treated in the space of a few hours around midnight, putting emergency services under severe pressure.

At one points a 999 call was coming into the Tara Street control centre every 30 seconds.

Between 6pm on the 31st and 6am on the 1st, 332 emergency calls were made.

Multiple cases were dealt with on Harcourt Street, Dame Street, O'Connell Street and in Temple Bar.
