The Government has been criticised for not intervening to save jobs in the Cadbury plants in Dublin and Kerry.
It was announced yesterday that 160 redundancies are being sought at the production facilities in Coolock and Rathmore.
Cadbury's parent company Mondelez Ireland, also plans to close its gum factory in Tallaght with the loss of 62 jobs.
The Unite union, which represents around 400 workers at the Cadbury plants, is to meet with management to discuss the job losses.
Local Fianna Fail Senator Averil Power says she would like to know whether the Jobs Minister Richard Bruton, took any steps to prevent the job losses, and when it was that he became aware of the situation
She thinks that there's still time to work to save the jobs..
