Doctors are protesting in Dublin today. As a result a number of GP practices around the country will be closed.

It comes as psychiatric nurses are staging their second overtime ban today. It's in a row over pay and staff shortages.

Around 500 GPs will gather outside Leinster House later calling for the reversal of austerity-era cuts to primary care funding.

The National Association of General Practitioners says there's a recruitment crisis.

They say around half of new graduates are leaving the country.

The NGAP also says that many GPs are having to retire early, due to burnout.

They say the medical card system can no longer cope.

Elsewhere, psychiatric nurses are staging their second overtime ban today in a row over pay and staff shortages.

It comes as nurses have finished up their second 24 hour strike this morning.

Similarly, a third strike is scheduled for tomorrow.

The HSE will meet INMO officials later today to discuss the implications.
