Eamon Gilmore has resigned as leader of the Labour Party.
It follows the party's dismal performance in the elections, and upset among many Labour members.
He'll stay on until July, when the party will choose a new leader.
Mr. Gilmore will remain on in his duties as Tanaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs.
His announcement followed the news that seven TDs and one senator called for a vote to be held on his position.
He says he made the decision to step down last night, before the motion of no confidence was put forward.
