The N7 Newlands Cross junction upgrade will be officially opened today.
It will allow for free flowing traffic at the notorious bottleneck used by 90 thousand motorists a day.
This upgrade consists of a flyover at the junction between the N7 and the Fonthill/Belgard Roads at Newlands Cross.
It will remove a major headache for motorists who have been stopped in traffic or stuck in the backlog as a result.
It will also remove the last traffic light between Cork and Belfast meaning a free flow between the M50 and Limerick, Cork, Kilkenny and Waterford, for the first time.
The flyover will be officially opened today but it will be Thursday before any cars can travel on it.
