New Measures to Tackle Christmas Tree Thefts

Gardai in Wicklow are mounting air patrols to tackle Christmas tree thieves.

Most of Ireland's Christmas tree farms are in Wicklow and many have hired extra security and installed motion detectors and hidden cameras to stop thefts.

Gardai in Wicklow say that they're using air units to cover large areas of ground to try to spot potential thieves.

Stolen trees are usually sold on for around 50 euro in the run up to Christmas.
