A new "innovative and creative" family event centre will open in Saggart in time for Christmas.

Luggwoods, which got its name from the ancient Lugg Forest, will be transporting families by train through the forest to a purpose built barn style event centre on top of Lugg Hill.

The Justice Minister, Frances Fitzgerald - who is a TD for the area - helped officially open it. Saggart is the fastest growing town in the country, and the Justice Minister believes the centre "is good news for the area and for the families who will who will have job opportunities at the new facility and throughout the construction phase."

"This new facility will run family events throughout the year starting this Christmas with their inaugural event Santa's Enchanted Forest", the Minister added.

Daniel Halpin of Luggwoods said "This is a good news story for the area with the creation of jobs and this fabulous new amenity for local families."

Councillor Emer Higgins said "It's fantastic to see our natural amenities being enhanced and utlised. I have my ticket already and I can't wait to explore Santa's enchanted forest, spot his reindeer and take in the views of the city from the hilltop."

Peter Finn of Luggwoods said "We are bringing families back to nature as we take them through this historic forest and up to our new event centre on the summit of the mountain. The whole village is buzzing about it opening and we can't wait to have our first families along."
