A new test could reduce the number of pregnant women needing an invasive procedure to detect Down's Syndrome in unborn babies.
The screening is already available privately, but could soon be offered on the public heath service in Britain.
It involves analysing small bits of DNA in the mother's blood, rather than taking fluid directly from the womb.
Penny Green from the charity Down's Heart Group thinks it could eliminate the need for the old test - known as an amniocentesis - altogether.
